Non-Invasive Prenatal Paternity Testing

Safe Prenatal Paternity Test

Non-invasive prenatal DNA paternity testing is ideal for individuals and families who are unable to wait for the child to be born or do not want to undergo invasive and dangerous procedures such as Amniocentesis or Chorionic Villus Sampling (CVS).

We offer also offer prenatal DNA paternity testing with court admissible results, for legal proceedings where the paternity of the child is in question.

Why Non-Invasive Prenatal Paternity Testing?

Non-invasive prenatal paternity (NIPP) testing is used to determine paternity of an unborn child as early as 7 weeks after conception, without an invasive or dangerous procedure required.

The quick process is performed by collecting a DNA sample from the cheek of the alleged father using through a buccal swab and a blood sample from the mother.

Restrictions

-Mother must be at least 7 weeks pregnant to test.

-Prenatal DNA paternity testing cannot be performed if the mother is carrying multiples (twins, triplets, etc...).

-In case of multiple alleged fathers, we cannot perform testing in which the alleged fathers share a close biological relationship.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • The baby’s DNA is found naturally in the mother’s bloodstream. The test requires a blood sample from the mother; then with our unique processing, the baby’s DNA is isolated from the mother’s and compared to the DNA taken from the possible father. A probability of paternity is determined, and a report is then produced.

  • Our lab partners provide at least a 99.9% probability on prenatal paternity tests. A prenatal test is just as accurate as a postnatal test.

  • Results from a prenatal paternity test can be used in court as long as samples were obtained using a chain-of-custody process. Non-legal testing is also an option. Not sure which is right for your unique situation? Call our experts at (508) 443-1428

  • For legal tests, results are posted 7 business days after samples are received at the lab. 3 business day results after samples are received at the lab are available for an additional fee as well.
For non-legal tests, results are posted 21 business days after samples are received at the lab.

  • We follow all paternity-test guidelines for the language used in the report. For this reason, your paternity test results will say whether the possible father IS EXCLUDED or IS NOT EXCLUDED as the biological father of the child tested.

IS EXCLUDED: Means that he cannot be the father because testing determined that he and the child do not share a biological parent/child relationship.

IS NOT EXCLUDED: Means that he is likely to be the biological father because testing determined that he and the child do share a biological parent/child relationship with a high degree of probability.

IMPORTANT: Because we test up to 2,000 data-points—instead of the standard 20 for a postnatal test— the report provides a conclusion only and does not include all genetic data.
